Create a custom printable map (Tourist or wall map) using Openstreetmap Data.
This tutorial will guide you to make your own custom printable map (png format). You can make your own map before going for vacation or even hang your town’s map on the wall for free! You can find tools and software used in this tutorial in the “Tools” Page of Cymps.com. Difficulty: Easy In this tutorial we will create a map of Limassol (Cyprus). The geographical data will be obtained from Openstreetmap.
Step 1Download the data from OpenStreetMapFollow Step1 and Step2 form Tutorial 1: Create a custom non-routable map for Garmin devises using Openstreetmap Data. Step 2Download, Extract and run KosmosAbout Kosmos: Kosmos is a lightweight OpenStreetMap (OSM) map rendering platform developed by Igor Brejc (User:Breki). The primary/supported platform for Kosmos is Windows. You need to have Microsoft .NET 2.0 (available here) installed on your computer in order to run Kosmos. 1.Download latest version (example is for version 2.1.21.0) 2. Run program form /Kosmos/Gui/Kosmos.Gui.exe
Step 3Load Data1. File --> New Project
2. Select your file (limassol.osm)
3. Export map to image (File --> Export map to bitmap) 4. Select zoom Factor (resolution) and click export.
Step 4Print and enjoy your holidays (or hang on your wall!)(file created: limassol.png) (click to download) |
